3 Injured in Head on Collision on Route 78

On May 3, 2020 three people were seriously injured in a car accident on Interstate 78 near milepost 13.8 in Union Township, shortly before 2 a.m. A 51 year old woman from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania was headed east when she sideswiped a pickup truck. After striking the pickup truck she then collided head on with another car. Two passengers in that vehicle a 16 year old boy and a 25 year old man were thrown from the vehicle. Both passengers and the vehicles driver, a 41 year old Sayerville man were airlifted from the scene. The three occupants of that vehicle were all taken to the intensive care unit with one of them listed in stable condition and two of them listed in critical condition. The wrong way driver was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital with minor injuries.

As of this time no charges have been filed while the police are still investigating how the driver ended up driving the wrong way.
